Basic RiderCourse w/ License Waiver

Motorcycle basics for anyone wanting to learn to ride, a rider wanting to refresh his/her skills, or a rider wanting to earn the license waiver.

Successful graduates earn a 90-day Motorcycle License Test Waiver. DDS waives the written and riding portions of your Motorcycle License application for 90 days. The 90-days is from the completion date of your course.

The MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) Basic RiderCourse is a comprehensive training program designed for beginning motorcyclists but is also beneficial to those with some experience who want to polish their skills. It combines both classroom instruction and actual riding practice on a closed course to ensure that participants learn the fundamentals of motorcycle operation, safe riding techniques, and critical street-riding strategies.  The on-bike training spans two days totaling approximately 10-12 hours of the following:

  • Basic control operations such as starting, stopping, turning, and shifting

  • Safe riding techniques including braking, cornering, and swerving

  • Skills for avoiding hazards and emergency response maneuvers

The course concludes with a knowledge test based on the E-Course and a riding skill evaluation on the practice range. Successfully passing both tests results in a completion card, which exempt riders from the riding test required by DDS for the motorcycle endorsement and can also lead to insurance discounts.

Class Fee: $329.

Access to the E-Course and use of a training bike are included in the class fee.
